Cleaning the depth finder
« on: July 10, 2012, 06:11:43 PM »
I was out fishing and was using spray-on sunscreen. Unfortunately the wind caught it and blew it on my humminbird. Are there any suggestions of what could take it off? I've tried water to no avail and am leary of using anything harsher that could cause more damage.

The recommended cleaning solution is Windex Multisurface with Vinegar.........unfortunately I doubt that it will help you.  After you see what this stuff and bug spray do to plastic, it really makes you wonder if you want to spray in on your body.

I have seen several posts where these sprays have permanently damage the unit.  I saw one post where the unfortuanate individual was able to put a screen protector on the unit and it effectively masked the problem......This type of accident is a good argument for using a screen protector all the time.

A note of caution......do not use any cleaner that has ammonia in it.

I usually just dampen a microfiber cloth and wipe the screen ..leave enough dry to wipe dry
