I purchased the pc connect lead for my 777c2x update I downloaded from the humminbird site m777c2.4_180. I used the humminbird pc-3.0.26 to update my 777c2. I restored the default setting on the 777 before I started. Then about 1/10 the way through the update I get a failure now the 777 just has a black screen that blinks now is stuffed what do I do. It's useless now.

Download a fresh copy of the software update file and try it again.

If that does not work try powering it on while holding in the VIEW button and than use the arrow buttons to select “Program”.  Next press the VIEW button to start programming and select the same update file and select to program the unit again.  I’ve personally never done this with the newer version of HumminbirdPC (I always used the older version) and a unit that has not updated properly as I have not had one fail on me in a while.

I tried that Greg still nothing. The 777c2 was a perfectly good sounder I never had any problems with it until the update. I followed the instructions by the manual that came with the pc connect cable. Restored the defaults & wallar I now have a perfectly useless sounder. What would be my next step here in Australia Greg. I used HumminbirdPc 3.0.26 2008_12_12. If I hold the view buton down then the power on button I only get a lightly back lit screen.

Tommy,
Your only choice now is to contact your local dealer and see if they can reprogram it and/or fix it.  Often when the units get like this it takes replacing an internal component to get them working again.

Sorry you've had problems with this.

777c2x Blinking black of death reserected back to life with new update
« Reply #4 on: July 18, 2009, 09:07:55 PM »
Thanks for all your help Greg. I was able to reserect the 777 from the blinking black screen of death. I used the latest humminbird program just connected it up to the computer with the PC lead. I just turned the 777 on the the blinking black screen. Told the humminbird program to update the 777. Then It gave me back my menu to simulate or PC connect. I selected PC connect. I then selected update again from  the PC program I get a friendlier black screen with a green horizontil graph in the middle with the words programing on top & it did not stop this time. I now have the 777C2.4_180 installed.

Thanks again from Tommy Downunder
