Problem with depth and brightness
« on: March 09, 2011, 11:47:15 PM »
Thinking about the upcoming season it reminded me of a problem I encountered last year.  Fishing a lake with dynamic changes in structure and depth, going from 6 feet to 50 feet in an instant, I really struggled with my 998 displaying the bottom in the depths.  Playing around with the sensitivity, brightness, and other settings, when I got the deep to display hitting the quick shallow was a washout of brightness.  The opposite was true setting the 6-12 foot optimal and the deep was lost.  The default settings worked okay but still difficult.  Is there an automatic gain setting or feature that would compensate for depth changes to deliver an optimal display?
