Topic: 998c SI locks up when select tranducer type from menu options.

I bought a  998c SI a month ago and I have a side imaging transducer and a dual beam transducer hooked up to the unit using a "Y" cable.  The unit locks up 80% of the time when I'm in the sonar menu, scrolling through/selecting the transducer type. 
The only thing I can do to get out of the locked screen is shut the power off to the unit.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I just tried my 998c SI (in the garage/out of the water and with 4.970 installed) and I don't see your problem. I have the same configuration as far as transducer connection (transom mounted 2D and HDSI transducers joined w/ "Y" cable). I tried lots of invalid transducer selections as well as the two possible valid ones (HDSI side scan and 2D (although I don't know why you would select that?)) and my unit works fine. Maybe move up to 4.970 or call Humminbird Customer Service. PS: I have not herd of this problem on any of the other chat boards that I usually monitor.

       I'll back up a bit and tell you the story from the start........I bought the unit, had it installed and it worked fine, except for two things: 1- When I set the map to course-up, it wouldn't down load the map.  2- As as I said in my first email, the unit would lock up 80% of the time in the Sonar/ Transducer Menu, as I scroll through the transducer selection.  FYI- It doesn't lock up on any one transducer selection in particular.
     I tried to down load the program update and things didn't work out so well, it locked up in the Program Loading screen.  I sent it in for repairs and I also told them about the issue with it locking up in the transducer selection.  They said they would install the updates for me.

Currently the unit has the updates but it still locks up in the Sonar/Transducer Selection screen.  I will send it back to service but I thought maybe someone out there had this same problem.
