For those of you who use Macs you are probably already aware that the Humminbird download software for file conversion - specifically son2xtf - is not available in a form that can run on Mac OSX. I tried using Parallels, but there is a fundamental conflict with .NET requirements (the .NET installation says it works, but the program still fails).
On 06 Aug 2010, Steve Crawford (scrawfor@uoguelph.ca) wrote to Humminbird Service:
"On your website FAQ #69 you write: "We are currently exploring options for releasing versions of son2xtf for Linux and Mac OS X. Please contact us if you require a different OS platform and we will see if we can help." I need to know if and when the son2xtf program for Mac OSX will be available. Please advise."
Humminbird Service replied:
"We have passed on your request to our engineering group. It is the 1st request that has been made and so there is no planned project at this time. It will depend on how many additional requests we receive in the future."
For those who would be interested in son2xtf for Mac, please email a request to Humminbird Service (service@humminbird.com) - feel free to copy the text of this posting and paste it in your email.
Please copy me (scrawfor@uoguelph.ca) on your email request, so I can refer to the number of respondents when I follow-up with Humminbird in the future.
