Heading information
« on: November 07, 2016, 08:30:18 AM »
Hi,

I'm using the SI a lot on my belly boat these days (winter is tough for shore fishing in Europe). Due to the low stability of the boat, mapping the SI to the lake bottom is a major problem, without having heading info in the files. The GPS receiver I have is the version without compass.
Does anybody know what an easy way of getting heading data into the unit might be? I don't want to buy a $300 GPS sensor again just for that purpose...
Can these small uBlox units used for quadcopters be used? Or just a regular marine Compass with NMEA output?

I got a reply from HB service. The HDG sentence is not supported, but the VTG sentence supposedly is... I think I'll probably find a way to get independent data into Reefmaster rather than messing with the NMEA...
Does anybody know the hardware specs though? Is it 12V or 5V? Unipolar or bipolar? 4800 baud, right?
