Hi Camo,

Welcome to this site.

You may want to give an overview of when the problem started, such as adding something to the system, the location of the units (are they exposed or under a canopy etc., voltage the units are getting, review what is working and what you think may have caused the issue.

We have some pretty good folks on this site, once they have an idea of the issue(s) they will add their thoughts, then others will state their opinions.

hi George
problem occured 2 nights ago ,got on the dam ,turned the 797 on, every function works except the gps ,checked the status and shows all is connected ,turned the unit off and let it sit then restarted thinking that it might not have started properly ,let it go while we heade across the dam giving it time to pick up satelites and still nothing 15mins later,so turned on the other unit a matrix 37 and same drama nothing all night, pulled up beside a mate and his 757 is working fine ,both units have seperate gps antenaes, both are exposed with no canopy ,voltage is fine, haven't changed any settings so it's got me stumped.

I remove the units and store them for travel and it has ben about a month since last use, other than that have tryed everything that i can think of other than sending the unit away

                  cheers camo

Camo,

Try cleaning the plugs both unit and gps wire plug.

try checking pins in the plugs.

I know the you said the batt is ok but make a old man happy and change it out with a fresh charged one.

Check voltage at the power plug and what the unit is reading are the same.

Dis gps ant wire and start unit give it five min to start up check gps status, should read no signal, then plug in gps ant watch gps status page. If it works good.

If it does not find someone  to test your units on there boat to see if it is the unit or the gps ant.

Go to the pub for a cold one mate!

Good luck Roddy

Have you tried each unit in each other's mount? Are they both standalone units? No interlink? Other than that check connections. Is are a way to manually test the gps pucks?

Camo

Something is wrong in the way we are trying to understand the issue?  Not impossible but certainly improbable that both units are bad!  I think we are all missing something.

Some questions to generate some thoughts.

When did you install each unit?

How long did the GPS work on each?

Did anything occur right before you lost the GPS?

Is there someone or a dealer nearby to test your units on their system?

Can you take pictures of each unit and the proximity of the GPS receivers to them?

Can you shut down the sonar and just run the GPS?

Can you load the maps and see a boat showing your location?

What else is there?

Hang in there Camo, I am sure it someone will have the right information.

George

Camo are you outside in clear view of the satelites. That don't make sense loosing both antennas at the same time
must be a connection problem.   Gary

Camo, when you look at the system status screens you are saying it shows connected...when you look at the GPS diagnostic screen what level of gray bars (signal strength) does it show for (and how many) satelites are shown?
Does it show a position on the diagnostic screen..?
Is there a date time shown?
It is possible to have connection but not sufficient signal strength to work.
Blockage or bad antenna....could be the problem..
Or internal but you said the unit works on another boat...

We need more information and of course some pictures...

Guys, it may sound improbable but I think both of his GPS Receivers went out at the same time as both units work on another boat.  What could have caused this is a mystery though…  ???

I would still like to see what the GPS diag screen shows...
If the signals are low then the puck(s) might be at issue..
Or if good levels then the unit...

Camo can you post on this...
