Ram Mount for 998
« on: February 09, 2014, 01:42:29 PM »
Recently set up a portable transducer unit for my 998 and looking at placing the head unit on a Ram mount to make it easier to transfer between boats.  Was wondering if any of you were running the Ram mount set-up using the 1.5" ball and how is it working? Am unsure if the 1.5" system will be strong enough although website says up to 10#, weighed my head unit it weighs 4#. Wanted input before buying.

ram mount is plenty strong.  I have one on a 898 and it has not failed or even come loose.  it is mounted on console dash.

The 1.5" ram mount isn't as strong as the bigger one. My 997 would sag if there were any waves while moving from point to point. I have since gone to the bigger one.
