Settings using a Humminbird 1197c with ArcPad

Hi,

I am looking to use an Humminbird 1197c with ArcPad and the GPS use will be a SXblueII with a RTK radio correction. Any suggestion for the settings to make sure NMEA sentences will be ok ?

The HB unit will provide the depth sentence from the NMEA out.

From what I read, you will provide the GPS data from a corrected receiver to a computer..
Everything should work fine if your connections are ok.

Do you need to feed the DGPS signel to the 1197?

The problem you will encounter using that technique is that since you provide the depth and position data from 2 different sources, you will have a delay in the 1 second range for the NMEA network.

What do you want to do with your setup?
Simple bottom mapping, or Full SI coverage in 3D?

Hi,

I want to do Simple bottom mapping (Z value) and yes I want to feed the GPS signal to the 1197c. Indeed, the RTK correction will entry to the SXBlueII via the serial port and the corrected position will feed the 1197c via the same serial port. I am looking for a splitted cable for that. And then, the corrected position with a Z value will be transferred to the computer.

If you only want to do bottom (z) mapping, the precision of the RTK unit will be wasted.

Since the cone angle of the transducer, which is 20° will offset by a good margin the precision of the positioning data.
And remember, doing GPS position import in the 1197 will induce a delay in the NMEA sentence, which will
further degrade the precision of the map.

HB don't produce a pencil beam transducer in the <10° range. If you want a real precise map, look into lowrance units will special Airmar transducer which can be 9° of cone angle to really put the RTK signal in use.
