Title: 1198c SI Transducer Location
Post by: Zildjian on January 08, 2013, 12:26:49 PM
Hey Guys,

I just picked up an 1198c SI Unit. Extremely excited to get this installed. Quick Question for all you guys. Where is the correct/best location to mount my SI transducer? I have a 2011 Bass Tracker Pro Team 190TX with 2010 90hp Mercury Optimax. My boat has that Step under the transom. I was told that where my factory transducer is installed is not the correct location, which it's installed above the Step on the Starboard Side. Because that step creates air bubbles and causes false readings along with no high speed readings. Also, the correct location for the new transducer is where my step is, on the port side of my plumbing fittings. I'll post a picture of my transom to show you guys what exactly i am Talking about when I get home from work.

Thank you,
 -Zildjian

This is probably the number one question that gets asked
on this forum: 'Where is the best place to mount my transducer'.

I would try 'transducer location' in the search box (at the right top of the screen).
You will see many posts about this for many different boats.
You'll have to do some research.

Until you have found the right spot try mounting your transducer with double sided sticky tape. Of course try not to run at full speed. until it is mounted good..
