Topic: Is is safe to power off HB with External Power Switch

I installed an external power switch to switch on power to the 5-port ethernet switch and decided to add an 899ci to this switch.

Is is safe to power down the 899ci with the external power switch vs holding down the power button on the 899ci?

It is not recommended to power off the unit in any other means than the unit power button  ...

HB says it's a computer and has shut down procedures only initiated by the power button  ...
