Great minds think alike....    Thats the general idea of what I temporarily did to find my current xducer location.  Mine was a heck of a lot cruder, and involved c-clamps though!

It's a lot easier to move the C clamps than it is to fill the holes because you didn't get it right the first time.  I've seen boats that looked like Bonnie & Clydes car after that little incident in La.
