798 Ci Si Hd internal GPS loses connection
« on: July 03, 2016, 05:52:14 PM »
My 798 CI SI HD is losing GPS connection as I am fishing sometimes. I have to power unit  off and back on for it to reconnect. Sometimes I have to do it twice. Is there a software issue or is something internally wrong. I have latest software version for my unit.

1st try Restore Defaults under the Setup tab ...

If that doesn't help ...:

Go under the Views tab and make the "Accessories test" view "Visible" ...

Then exit out of the "Menu" system and cycle thru the views until the "Accessories Test" view is showing ...

If the GPS is intermittently showing "Not Connected", it's most likely the internal GPS is failing ...

You can connect an external GPS antenna and override the internal GPS ...

The other thing that can cause this is if the power to the unit is borderline .... The GPS is one of the first things affected by low power......Next time it happens, take a quick look at the voltage readout on the unit and let us know what it is.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**
