898c si and the new 958c di
« on: December 04, 2011, 09:45:52 PM »
Just ordered the 958c di to go on the front of my boat. Was wondering what all do i need to connect it to my 898c si. Im interested in viewing waypoints that has been marked from the console upfront. It has probably already been discussed in another topic but couldnt find it! Thanks in advance

I have the gold avionics chip in my 898si should i buy the exact chip for the 958c di or go with another one?

You should be able to just get the ethernet cable and connect the 2 units. I'm not sure about the maps.

LocDown is right in that all you need is one of the Ethernet Connection cables to connect both of these units together.  Problem is that there are various lengths so you will have to measure the travel route that the cable will take to determine which one you need.  The part number for this cable will be AS-EC-XXE where the “XX” is replaced by the length.  Cable lengths are 2, 10, 15, 20 and 30 feet long.

You will need a second map card as the mapping data cannot be shared over the Ethernet connection.

Thanks! Your help is greatly appreciated!
Has anyone put these two units together, was hoping for some advanced settings. I'm big on dropshot fishing and hope this unit will help!

Setting are optional and user selectable.
What works for one may be different for others.
It all depends on what you want to see.

It will not hurt the unit to try different settings until you get what you want..

Just play around and make it do what you are happy with..
