I'm seriously thinking of finally getting a higher end graph/gps (999ci hd si) and am wondering why so much of the LH side of the widescreen is used up just to display readouts of numbers? Doesn't the software allow other display options so more of the screen can be used up actually showing the good stuff? Kind of seems to defeat the purpose to spend $1500 to get a big screen. Maybe a software update could offer more options?

Why they won't change it...no one knows but HB...
It is possible to turn of the white boxes in the full screen SI view only on the 800/900 series units and overlay just the temp and depth in the lower left hand corner...(select SI Readouts-Off under the Sonar tab in the main menu system)...
