Hello I'm new to this forum, but I have been watching it and also other HB forums.
Short Introduction: I'm professional Diver with special interest in wrecks. I'm also into electronics and have worked in that industry for couple of years.
Anyway for 3 years now I have been searching for a specific shipwreck, and couple of months ago I finally found it. With the help of my HB and my tow fish made the difference.
Well here is my design and all I can say it worked for me.

Thanks for the replies, and yes its mostly made of PVC.
It was a great learning experience to build this fish.
I built one before this one. But this one defiantly works great.

What cable did you use? Or did you just use the standard Humminbird cable?

Robert Yes, still I haven't extended the cable much.
I use one HB extension. I'm not planning to extension it more as of yet, because I'm not using it for very deep waters.
But maybe in the near future it would be cool to try it and see how it will perform.

I want to do the same with my Humminbird 798.
Could it pass mediated or anything more detailed?
Was not it necessary to use a wing in the towing cable?

I am in need of a towfish and transducer that will get me to depths of 75m in saltwater. We have a 798c S1 Combo that we normally use in shallower waters. A scallop dragger just sank a few days ago with all crew aboard and the families have asked for help to bring closure to their loss. We have a few other tools at our disposal and have volunteered to help but feel that the fastest route would be to use a towfish with a transducer with an extra 30m of cable. Are there any suggestions?

As a side note. If this is a recovery of people. Dont spend time making a tow fish. Call for help and get operating equipment on site. there must be some one or organization within a reasonable distance. you can build your fish later. Think about the family first and get the tools in places. Please dont take this as an attack but rather a viewe on the immediate need. chuck
