Title: 899 and battery
Post by: birda40 on May 26, 2014, 09:29:05 AM
Hi all , wondering what the average time of use with a fully charged battery would be? I have two batterys for my trolling motor and finders. Recharge when back at home, ( everynight ). Everything is running at 12 volts.

The current draw on the 899 will be very small in comparison to the trolling motor.
My new units have a 3 amp fuse and the new MinnKota has a 50 amp breaker.
With two batteries, I doubt you'll have to worry about the depth finder.

There is no real good way to calculate this either as there are too many unknown variables involved.  The 800 series units pull less than 1 amp (~780mA) per hour but it is not just an easy calculation of having a 20 Amp battery so 20/1 = 20 hours of use.  What you don’t know is the actual capacity of the battery at that time nor at what point the battery cannot provide at least 11 volts (this is about the cut-off voltage for the 899 unit).  Best way to find out is a real world test – just try it!
