I need help to identify this transducer
« on: May 30, 2013, 05:39:19 AM »

I just bought a 998C SI.
I´ve got three smaller boats and one larger.
The 998 is suppost to be used on the smaller boats for fishing after the cousin to walleye we have here in Sweden. Thats when i´m using the SI transducer that comes with the SI functions.

The larger boat is not for fishing. The transducer at picture fits and works together with my 998.
Is there any problems to use this transducer to my new 998 SI?

Hope you guys can give me answers  :)

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking:

A transducer just relays information to and from the unit.
If this transducer is now working with your 998, then I don't see
where it would hurt anything.
If it did not come with the 998, then you probably won't be able to
get all the functions you would have, if you used the original transducer.
You might only get 2d.  Not sure.
You would probably have to change your transducer select option to
match this transducer.

I'd wait for Greg to chime in to be sure.

Thanx!

My guess is that this transducer is a singlebeam 200 hertz so maybee I should select that in the sonar options.
Just using a few procent of the 998´s capacity as a sonar.  :)

Nobody who know the name of the transducer?

Based on the shape of the housing, the connector and the number of pins in the connector: it looks to be an XT-9-CB-24 Co-Axial Dual Beam transducer that was made for the LPG2000 and Legend 3000 units.  It ran at 200kHz and could produce two sonar beams widths at that frequency.  The only other possibility is that we used the same transducer cable as a substitute for some other transducer and I will not be able to tell which it is.  Are there any markings on the cable within the first three feet of the connector?  If so, what are they?
