Title: Humminbird Radar for Helix 10 SI
Post by: bigboy on January 02, 2017, 03:25:27 PM
Hi just looking at adding a humminbird radar HB2124 and the cost here in England is around £2000.00 however I believe this is a Raymarine Quantum unit rebadged, this unit costs around £1200.00 in England so my question is can I use this unit??

Not sure is the Ethernet connecter is the same but could buy the HB cable?

I also have a 998 connected via Ethernet so to add the radar I will also need the Ethernet switch? If so it may be better I just add a raymarine unit with raymarine screen which cost around £1800.00 and have two screen in the boat.

As i understand there are 2 quantum radars aviable one with only wifi connection and one with optional ethernet. And from this image of the humminbird innstalation manual, it seems like the ethernet/connection cable could be a humminbird-rm raymarine conversion cable. I dont know if this is correct, but it is really interesting... :-)

Yes found this link as well, just wonder if theirs anything different in the software stopping it working. Going to the London boat show on Saturday so will ask Raymarine.
Not sure the cost of the HB Radar in the USA but if the Raymarine unit works then with the weak £ you guys could be getting a real good deal.
