Humminbird 798c / ci tutorial!
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:58:45 PM »
Hey guys, just wanted to drop in and share my newest video with you all. For those of you who already own the 798, then this video won't really pertain to you. For anyone who has been thinking about buying one but has not seen the unit in depth, this video is for you! Or for anyone who may be confused about how the unit operates, what does what...etc etc. It is LONG! I went through the whole unti...nearly every screen, and nearly every menu. Enjoy!

P.S. - Some of you hardcore veterans might hear me explain something incorrectly. I apologize, and feel free to comment or correct. Thank you.

Phiznat,

I didnt know you could upload a video that long to youtube!  Man thats longer than most full length movies!  ;D

I didnt get to sit through it all and skipped around a little bit, but it all looked good from what I saw.

Just a suggestion, but i would recommend that you break the video down into different parts or subjects shorter in length.  Maybe 10-15 minutes max.  Its hard to keep someones attention for 1 hour and 20+ minutes!

Good Luck,

Robert

LOL! Its hard to keep my attention for that long. This is why I had to upload it as an hour long segment.

When I got everything edited out the way I wanted, the overlay text would no longer match the time on the video. So the text would appear over a wrong portion of video. My only option to fix it was to re-record the whole thing. Which I might do in the future. I feel pretty certain I could do better. But in the mean time I figured id throw out what I had.

Hopefully it will help someone out, or maybe show some folks how the unit operates so they can make a better decision on if they want to drop money on one.

Thanks for the input though!

P.S. - You know Humminbird doesn't have to make their units so impressive. Which means I could do a shorter video. ;-)

That was a pretty major time commitment on your part.  Thanks for doing that.

Good video.  I just purchased the new 2011 unit and this will help me get familiar really quick.  I see you are listed as from P-Cola.  I am out of Ft Walton Beach.  Which river do you fish?  I fish for Bass in Escambia, Blackwater, Yellow, and East river.

Howdy! You will love your fish finder. I do most of my fishing in the Mobile Delta. Mostly the Tensaw river, and Alabama river. But I do fish Escambia from time to time. I grew up fishing the Alabama side of water so thats what ive known most my life. I have been meaning to fish Escambia more however. The water has been up since that last run of bad weather we had two weeks ago. I hope the video helps. I tried to make it as detailed as possible. It is long and I probably could have broken it up better. Perhaps that will be my next endeavour.

Good Job ....  & I appreciate the effort you made to help folks like myself that are fairly new to HB imaging units.

By the way, I lived in Pensacola for 15 plus years, in the hwy. 29 & 9 mile road area & in Gulf Breeze for 10 years before that.

Now in the Guntersville, Alabama area so it's mostly full time fresh water fishing except when I go down to visit family & friends.

Thanks again   ;D

A native on the forums! I grew up in Breeze (well Midway really.) My folks live up near Century on Pine Barren rd. Have always been more of the fresh water types. Im glad you liked the video. I wish I could have had more time that day to edit it and break it into sections. I'll get around to it eventually here.

You are going to love it! Best investment next to your rod and reel (and boat) that you could ever buy.
