Title: New 798ci Si Hd- Screen Views
Post by: Crappiehound on February 05, 2012, 10:32:58 AM
Just joined the site and would like to say I'm impressed with the wealth of knowledge shared by all. I have owned humminbird units in the past but this is my first Si/Di unit. My question is, while I'm trying to adjust to what I'm seeing would it make sense to start by viewing with the Si/Di/2d sonar screen view? Just got the unit installed yesterday an I'm planning to take it out this afternoon and tinker with it. I liked this screen view in simulation mode. Any suggestions? Thanks

Well, you will see a lot with three screens. For better detail you would want to switch to a particular screen.
You might set a couple of preset keys to switch.
Also you might want to go into the menu and hide some of screens you may not use very often.
That will cut down on the time to page thru views to get to a screen of your interest.
For our needs we hide all of the nav screens as we use a second unit for the boat operator to drive by.....

I would make a Sonar Recording or an interesting part of the lake you fish and then during playback on the unit I would view it in the full screen version of each of those sonar and note the differences in how each shows structure and fish.  For that small of a screen I don’t like to split it up with multiple Views.
