NMEA Wire colors 1198 si
« on: May 27, 2013, 04:53:31 AM »
I  have lost my installation instructions and could not find this any where in the user manual.   Could someone tell me which is in or + and which is - or common on the 1198? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Side Imaging Forums JDGuess.

Are you asking about the wire color for the GPS Receiver ‘pigtail’ wires?
If so, which set do you have: Red, White and Black or Green, White and Black?

On both sets, the Black is NMEA Ground and White is the NMEA + or output but so is the Green wire connection (it uses a different prefix on the NMEA sentences though).

Give us some details on what you have and what you are trying to connect to.

Hey Greg, thanks for the reply.  Yes I was asking about the gps pigtail. I'm connecting to a Simrad AP12 auto pilot. I used this same Pigtail with my   Matrix and AP 12 and it worked perfect. I used the black and white wires. The green was not used.
I have had no luck with my 1198 connecting to AP.  I guess I should try black and green?

The same White and Black connections should work John.
Make sure that you remembered to turn on the NMEA Output menu in the 1198 unit.

BINGO!  Got it Greg. Thanks, sure was missing AP taking me where I wanted to go.   Humminbird to Simrad AP12- White to Red and Black to Blue.
