Managment of Waypoints and such
« on: February 17, 2011, 09:00:23 AM »
This is my first bird.  I own 2 brand X.  It would be nice to have the ability to load only the files you desire to use from the SD card into the Humminbird unit.  Brand X allows me to load only the files I will be using in a one day fishing trip.  Just saying.  So far I love my 998.  This option would allow for more convenient management of waypoints and such.  Maybe I missed something but I have to download everything on my unit to get to the waypoints I want to work with.

I also switched from brand x a few years ago.and liked this feature. I added it to the Humminbird wish list back then. I have not given up hope, yet.

Yeah, not sure when the Engineers will finally get the Waypoint Management software done…  :-[

For now though you can use the file you have as a Master file and than for each lake: make a copy of it and delete all of the data out of it that does not go with that lake.  Save each Lake file on your computer and you can load just the data from that lake before you go fishing.  Remember to download the Nav data from your unit after each trip to keep those lake files updated.
