Readouts Incorrectly Displayed?
« on: October 29, 2011, 05:18:10 PM »
I have a new 998c si unit which displays the incorrect readout in some of the locations.  For instance, it is set to temperature in the "Select Readouts" of the menu option but displays speed.  Any ideas?

were you in the naviation/map mode? ..I have found that some readings are different depending on the screen but should be correct in 2d sonar mode.

Hi,
I noticed the same thing when I got my 998c. I was about to fire off a problem ticket until I looked at the Owners Manual for clarification - see page 128. I'm guessing this "feature" is a carryover from the older (Matrix based) Legacy boxes. It probably works that way to maintain "product consistency"? Just a guess.

Take care,

Roger

When I started to use my 997 a year ago, I had the same problem. I did a reset to factory defaults and set the read out the way I wanted and then did another check. Probably took 3-4 resets before I had the readouts the way I wanted.

Yes, each screen is different.  Some of the screens will show the speed twice, etc.

It was a lot easier when a product manual shipped with the unit. But the economy and social networking has business bottom line a big issue in pricing.
For those of you with computers I would strongly advise downloading the manual, or if you have a disk loading that to your computer.
Important pages that are mostly referenced you can print out.
Some print shops may not charge you very much to print the manual from disk..
At least, for now, HB does offer you the ability to readjust your views somewhat in a format you like..

I have noticed that even if I turn readout 2 off, the course will still be displayed in any navigation view.

That is normal for that View jgollihar.  The unit is programmed to display the Course in that position when in the navigation view.
