Title: 798 gps
Post by: tblshur on December 14, 2017, 10:01:03 AM
i have a 798di si hd and when trying to stay on a offshore way point with trolling motor the boat icon and arrow are slow to react to directional changes, my question is would a external puck like the 408920-1 AS GRP work with my 798 , and would it help this problem? or is there something else i could do   :)

The best solution is to install an AS HS GPS which has an electronic compass and will show the direction the boat is pointed even when sitting dead still.  https://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-GPS-HS/ (https://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-GPS-HS/)

I'm pretty sure the 798 has an update to support the heading sensor GPS, but Rickie will probably check in and know for sure.

The AS GPS HS antenna requires minimum 6.570 software version  ...
