upgrade 788ci software to french usage
« on: May 21, 2011, 05:36:44 AM »
My parents offered me a combo 788ci fishfinder from their last holidays in US. The product is unfortunatelly in english and nobody told them (the box and notice were in french).
I'd like to convert it to french language. Is there a way to do so or my product is unusuable...
thanks for your help.

I believe the units are manufactured for USA (domestic) and the others countries are thru their distributor and in a european language.

Once a unit is made it cannot be changed,  This may have something to do with the internal flash code and bios.

Afraid not Del.  Canada gets an International unit as well.

Finally I returned it and get some of my money back. I'll find a locale distributor and buy a new french one. My parents promess me to offer a keychain next time:-)

It is really ashamed the way these units are protected requiring us to purchase locally at exorbitant prices.
Understand about the different certification requirements, but it certainly does not costs as much as they are charging (in my opinion).  We did a lot of certifications on computers in the states which covered the Europe as well.  Does Lowrance have the same policies as Humminbird?
