Didn't save last recording to card
« on: October 14, 2014, 08:01:18 PM »
I made many recordings in the past with the same SD card.  After coming home from the lake I noticed it didn't save the 3 recordings that it should have.  It even showed the card filling up with data when I was recording.
I started recording and "recording" was flashing on the unit.  I stopped recording and when it said save current track, I  pushed yes.

I'm not sure what is going on.  I didn't get any errors or anything and there was a delay like it was saving when I saved it.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Power interruptions are my first guess.  When you say "filling up" on the card I am guessing that you mean the card shows it is being written to and not exceeding the card capacity. Check power connections.  Check transducer connections..

I'm confused about the statement .."I stopped recording and when it said save current track"...

Recordings and tracks are 2 completely different features...

And recording is written directly to the card in "real time" ... Then when you choose "Stop Recording" from the Xpress menu - the recording immediately stops ... There should be no indication from the unit asking if you want to "Save current track" simply to stop the recording process ...

To stop the recording process ...:

*Press menu one time from any view to open the Xpress menu...
*Cursor down one click to highlight "Stop Recording" ...
*Cursor right one click to actually stop the recording ...

Did you follow these 3 steps to stop the recording process ...??

Or did you possibly cursor down farther into the Xpress menu to choose the "Save current track" menu selection ...?? (Which deals with saving the boat's track line on the map view into the unit's internal memory)...

I went to the lake again.  I started and stopped recording from the xpress menu this time.  It was flashing recording and showed the file size so I assumed it was recording and looked like it saved it with no errors.... but when I get home there is nothing on the card.

I have determined that the SD card is bad.  I had it in my wallet for 6 months.  Not sure what happened to it.  A strange thing.. I can delete items from the card and they are back on there when I insert the card again.  Yes, my lock tab is in the right position and I cleaned the contacts.  The card is a 2gb sandisk.

I did a 5 minute test recording when I first got to the lake.  I saved it and it seemed like it worked but I should have looked for it on the unit before continuing my trip.  I lost 6 hours of recordings yesterday.

That is a strange fishmaster.
When you try your unit with another SD card let us know for sure whether it worked right or not.
