Trouble with 898c si Dwon imaging
« on: September 20, 2011, 08:58:52 AM »
Hey guys,
I just found this forum and can't wait to read through it all when I get time!

I have found some spots in my local lake that I am 99% sure are crappie cribs but can't get the down image to show that there is anything there.  on the sonar, i see the hump comes up to 36 feet in 43 feet of water.  I have found three of these and can't figure out why I am not seeing anything on the down scan.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I am getting a little frusterated
THANKS

Although I don't use the Downscan much, I've heard that
if you set the beam to narrow, you will see more detail.

Good Luck.

Do you know what the cribs are made of?
How long have they been submerged?
What size are they (how far do they extend off of the bottom)?
What Lower Depth range menu setting are you using?

When using the DO you almost have to run right over the top of the target. Kinda of like the water column part of SI...
