998 linked to a 788
« on: January 13, 2012, 03:03:36 PM »
When I use these together in simulator mode they don't share waypoints. When I get to the lake I have to restore defaults to get the screens to work properly. My lake map will be sideways or up-side down.

SkeeterMatt,
Are the 998 and 788units connected via the InterLink or is this with an Ethernet connection?

Will the units share waypoints when used on the water (not Simulator mode)?

Is this a 788ci HD or 788ci HD DI model unit or just a 788c or 788ci model?

Check the “Chart Orientation” menu setting and set it to the “North-Up” menu setting.

Greg,
I used the units today and marked waypoints on both units and they will share tracks and routes but not waypoints .
I have the Ethernet cable connection.
The new unit is a 788c hd di
I guess the new 788c hd di has the way point management software and my obsolete $1800 dollar 2 year old 998 c hd si can't read it.

Humminbird needs to step up and keep us happy.

I'm thinking about selling this high dollar, battery draining crap and going back to the old school Eagle Cuda that I used to catch fish consistantly with.

I already sent my 998 in to be repaired when it was only 13 months old. WTF
That comes to $138.00 a month for a fish finder.................+ almost $50 extra for shipping back to the plant!

This is not aimed at you Greg.......unless your last name is Humminbird >:D

SkeeterMatt,
They are working on the software update that gives the 998c Si units the Waypoint Management software plus a whole lot more.  No official word yet as to when the software will be ready though.

Try turning the waypoint sharing off and then back on again in both units at the same time and see if that clears it up or not.

Thanks Greg, I'll give that a try next time I'm home.
