Topic: Portable transducer mounting

Hi guys!
I've come across this bracket while searching the net.
May be good option if U R moving from boat to boat / renting boats or don't want to drill holes in your boat.
Has anyone already used it? Do they do the job?

Which one would you recomend? The transom mount (standard) or side mount (with LCR mount)?

I have seen those, but never tried them.   I did rig up something similiar, from some aluminum pipe and c-clamp.  Make sure the transducer is not set deeper than needed.   At planing speeds there is allot of force against the transducer.  I bent the c-clamp and rod the 1st time I went on plane.       I have had decent luck with suction cup mount on my transom, and once aclamated to the water, hold when doing 20mph.

Currently I’m using the transom model mount with a modified pvc pipe fixed to the upper portion of the mount with my external GPS on top of it so, the GPS is directly above the transducer.  As mentioned earlier the bracket is aluminum and it will bend or break if you run fast with the transducer submerged too deep.  I’ve modified mine so there is a stop pin at the proper depth that the transducer should be set while recording and I lift the transducer slider up and tighten it then move.

I use the transom mount on a small boat , never had a problem .  Also use a ram mount for the 997, very easy to set up and remove  and  it packs into a plastic toolbox.  Boat speed  up to 24 mph  , transducer slightly below boat bottom gives a good scan and  transom mounting bracket  in good shape after 3 years of use.  The gps is attached to a plate on the ram mount.

For one of our old test boats we had the fixture shop guys cut a piece of half-inch aluminum so that it keyed on the boat hold down eye (where you attach the hold down straps).  This worked well and was used on an 18 foot Tracker that had a 90 HP motor.  You knew if you left it down as it really caused the boat to pull to that side but it did hold up at planning speeds.  Yes, I just had to try it!  Boat would only run 37 – 40 MPH with it on though.

Another  mount can be made by using the shaft and bracket for trolling motor mounts. You can get these separate from the complete trolling motor.  We added the Ray bracket to the bottom of the shaft for the transducer. With this setup you can adjust the tilt and depth of the transducer. 
And it will fit a lot of boats for mounting.
