798c si
« on: February 05, 2013, 10:35:19 PM »
Hope someone can help me.

It seems to me that the software releases for the 798 are progressive but each release does not incorporate all the previous changes. For example if my unit is currently 6.300 and had  all the updates except for 4.780 then the updates contained in 4.780 would be missing, but all the updates contained in the other versions would be current.

My questions are: Is this correct, and can i start at the first update 4.350 and re do each update to the latest.

Cheers

Not exactly sure about your question.....  But if you update firmware it is all inclusive ... you don't have to do it in stages...

But be sure you need an update... HB does not leave older versions for download in case there is a problem. Plus they don't have any version information available for older versions, so you don't know what features or fixes were added for different versions (NO VERSION HISTORY).

There are also no bug reports (known problems) posted on their site, so you have to rely on what others post on various forums.

Thanks straw.

What prompted the questions was i purchased the unit in april 2010, the dealer said they had done all the updates, yet i do not have downimaging. since then i have done all the updates, my side image screen is now a sepia colour, i have the waypoint management etc, but do not have downimaging. this is what made me think the updates were not all inclusive.

Well the problem is solved. had agood look thru the sounder in sim mode and its all there you just have to find the menus, and have it all set up to display. be nice if HB produced supplements to the manual, like they did with the waypint management. I guess the same options and settings as described in the HD version of the 798 may be relevent. thanks again straw for your help.

For what its worth- Just looked thru a downloaded manual for the 798cHD SI and it looks like that manual covers all the side image/down image info i was after.
