Still Interference
« on: March 07, 2011, 07:40:43 PM »
OK I have done everything I can do, checked and cleaned grounds turned the noise up to (high 3) and I still show interference and I noticed also that the depth will jump up and read like 60 to 70 feet when the interference happens then it will go to the right depth reading. My trolling motor is a 24 volt system and the graph is a 788 ci di hd. I even took the transducer of the head of the tm and still had the interference. I am thinking I need a filter. I dint no what else to try, and I dint no how to check for a common ground because the tm goes from 12 to 24 at the front were the tm plugs in.

I just read on a motorguide site that you shouldn't run the transducer wire down the guide cable of the trolling motor. Mine is ran up the tm shaft and down the guide cable maybe that's my problem. What do you think?

You might try temporarily taking the xducer(and it's cable) off of any part of the TM and it's TM power wires....

Then stick the xducer in the water FAR away from the TM....then test

This will help determine if the interference is between the xducer (and it's cable) and the TM (and it's cable)...

If you still have interference after this test...then the problem may be in your boat's wiring (from the batteries to the front of the boat)....
