Software for dual beam Humminbird 788ci
« on: August 03, 2011, 03:18:01 AM »
Dear All,

I have a Humminbird 788ci (serial number 9092902-0459) and I tried to record depth data recently. Therefore, I inserted a memory card into one of the available slots and I used the start and stop recording options as explained in the manual. Afterwards, I saw the files recorded in the card: there are some *dat files which seem to point to *son and *idx files saved in separate directories. I searched in your web site and in the internet in general and I found software to read and convert sonar files to other types such as “HBSI sonar data file converter” but all this software seems to work only with side sonar, whereas I have a double beam sonar. I really need to convert the sonar files to some readable format such as text or excel, so that I may recover depth, latitude and longitude data and use it in a Geographical Information System for research purposes. Do you have any advice that may help me?

With my best regards,

Pedro Duarte

DrDepth (www.drdepth.se) will do what you need.

You can export the open file in humviewer and then from the file tab "export" an excel file .csv......from there you can get your information...If you want to work with the "raw data" and your own program...

Chuck,

One more question: the csv file I got has latitude, longitude, then what appears to be depth, then date, time and another two columns. It seems to me that the first of these two columns might be gps elevation and direction of the boat movement. Can you confirm this?

Thanks

Pedro

Chuck,

Don't bother anymore! I have just seen the meaning of all .csv file contents in the Huminviewer.

Cheers
