I have a 1994 ZX 175 skeeter an I just bought a new hummingbird 798ci HD SI an I'm having trouble figuring out the best place to mount the transducer. It has a 6 inch hi-jacker plate on a marinar 175... If anyone has any feed back on this issue it would be a major help. Thanks guys!!!

Many are mounting the Si transducers on the jackplate and installing an XP-9-20 transducer inside-the-hull and an AS-Si-DB-Y cable.  This allows the Si transducers to be installed in a more protected location and an inside-the-hull transducer gives the best high-speed depth readings on fiberglass hulled boats.

When you make an inside the hull installation take care to ensure you epoxy without air bubbles. Mix carefully and apply carefuully.  Next scrape any existing paint or colored eposy from the inside of the hull to get rid of any bubble in the covering sand smoothe. Also when using the 9 20 make sure the hull is a single hull and not a layered hull as per the HB description. Again layered hulls can have an air space.  The 9 20 does not like this.  as with most sonar air is our enemy.

Make sure that you test the installation area per directions before you start mixing that epoxy up.  There have been many that have installed these in boats and not had them work because of the lack or testing or proper preparation of the installation area.  The transducer needs to be bonded to clean and solid fiberglass.
