FF597CI HD DI Intermittent Temperature Reading
« on: May 04, 2013, 10:28:28 AM »
Been having problems with my temperature reading not showing up for the last couple of months.  Sometimes it works but most times not.  The other problem I have is the unit freezing up.  Just bought this unit July 2012.  Any suggestions?

Ensure that you have a good power connection all the way back to the battery that powers the 597ci HD DI unit.  Be sure and check the fuse and fuse holder too.  No loose or corroded connections or they can rob your unit of the power that it needs.

Just how often is intermittent for you on this?  I ask only because you could test someone else’s DI model unit (it needs to be another DI model) and see if the same happens with their unit or not.  This will be the best way to know whether the problem is in the unit or on the boat (transducer temp probe going bad or power related).  I would also test your unit on their boat.

Wednesday night it worked fine for me.  Friday not working.  The only thing I have found was that the System Status Accessory Test shows the Temperature unconnected when I get no reading.

Saturday I found someone that I could test my unit on and the temperature read fine on his boat.

It has been this way from day one, and not sure what to do about it.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Mike,
It sounds like there may be something intermittent in the transducer.  Contact the Humminbird Customer Resource folks and see about getting the transducer replaced. 1-800-633-1468
