I just installed a 898c si. Mounted it on the transom, no obstructions in a stright line from the sides down. I have no right side imaging (mounted to left of motor). The 2d sonar reads erratically. Does'nt matter what I tried, it did'nt work. Tried trimming motor up, shutting it off, adjusted transducer, did'nt mess with default factory settings either. Can anyone tell me what is going on here? I have a tournament next week and I have to prefish an unknown lake with no sonar.

can you post some pictures of the mounting place of your transducer?
A straight shot from behind and from the sides with motor tilted up and down would give us an idea if something wrong there.
Try to disconnect and reconnect the transducer from the unit as well. Maybe there are some pins bend in the plug and don't have proper contact to the socket of the unit.

No right Si sonar when the transducer is mounted to the left of the motor smacks of a classic “the motor is blocking the Si sonar” setup. The HDSi transducer of the 898 needs about seven inches of clearance between the motor and transom. Take a tape measure to it to see of you have that much clearance or not.
If that looks okay you might want to try taking the transducer out of the mount and placing it on a pole or something so that you can hold it under the boat and rotate it around to see if you get any right Si sonar or not.
If you are using one of the Y-splitter cables try direct connecting the HDSi transducer to the 898 unit to see if anything changes.
Next thing I would do is find someone else with a Humminbird Si unit and test your unit on their boat. Does not have to be another 898c Si unit as you should be able to plug up the power and transducer and get a right and left Si reading.
