Title: transfer nav data from 998si to 788ci.

I know how to export and import the data to and from an sd card. My question is both units are out of the boat for winter and I will have to do this in the house. Do  I need to put the units in normal mode and not let them go into simulator mode in order to transfer the data to and from a card?

You will need to be in "forced" simulator mode....not "demo" mode.

Once the unit is turned on and while the unit is displaying the model number, quickly press the MENU button and select
       SIMULATOR

I have never installed waypoints from SIMULATOR mode, but all settings made are kept, so the waypoints should work also.

I've exported and imported navdata many times in full simulator mode.
