Title: How to download data from my device when it is not mounted in the boat?
Post by: Kees Michielsen on June 08, 2015, 08:31:54 AM
I left my boat for another holiday in Denmark.
I took my 998 home.
I trie to download the data from my last fishing trip to my SD card and then to my laptop but I can't save the data on the SD card, that menu option I can't find..
I have a spare power cable to connect the 998 to a accu.

Anybody an idea how I can retrieve the data from the device?

(English is not my first language, sorry for any mistakes  8) )

Under your NAV menu, you should see an Export
option.
It may under a sub menu titled Waypoints/Routes/Tracks.
That will save to the SD card.

Make sure you are using the advanced settings.
According to the 998c owners manual,
press the right cursor key, and follow instructions.

I'm sorry but in advanced mode I still don't see in the menu where I can save data to the SD, I even don's see waypoints.
When I press the MARK button I get the message that GPS receive is neccessary.
I only have a powerd cord attached, the rest is on the boat in Denmark and I am in Holland...

I would say to consult your owner's manual.
Somebody else with a 998c may also chime in.
Last resort, call Humminbird Customer service.

Thx ITGEEK,  You had the solution  ;D
I had to put the unit in advanced settings but also in DEMO mode
(I had NORMAL mode 8) )

Now I could save the navdata to the SD card, THX for your help!!

That's a handy trick. I'll have to remember that.

There are times when I'm learning / testing my unit in my office with a portable battery (but no transducer or iPilot connected) so I can't see certain menus.

The reason for this is in Normal mode, the unit must wait until the GPS antenna connects to the satillites before the unit will even show the Chart and NAV tabs ...

In Simulator, the unit will faux a connected GPS antenna ...which allows the unit to show the Chart and NAV tabs ...
