Title: Running a 788ci HD and 788ci HD DI at the same time
Post by: grae46 on February 17, 2014, 02:50:59 PM
Hi Everyone,

I got a 998 si unit this winter and installed it at the dash where my 788ci hd was before.  I currently have a 788ci HD DI at the front of the boat and want to put the 788ci hd up there to use as a map/graph.  My question is can I run the 788ci HD and 788ci HD DI at the same time or is it going to mess up the pictures from the frequencies.  I have a Minn Kota with the Universal Sonar so I would run the 788ci HD through that for the transducer if it would work.  Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!

You would probably get sonar interference between the 788ci HD and the 788ci HD DI units if you are using the sonar on the 788ci HD unit.  This is because both units are using the same 200kHz frequency.  Now if you set the DI unit to use the 455kHz (2D) frequency, you should not have this sonar-to-sonar interference.  Better still; turn off the sonar in the 788ci HD unit and use it for a map/GPS unit.
