859 ci and VHF DSC
« on: April 23, 2015, 12:45:02 PM »
So have been using a 859 ci on my boat for over a year now as my main graph. I have an older 787c2i that i use as my GPS. Have been thinking about connecting one of the two to my VHF to have DSC capability. I know that the 787 can only do NEMA output.  The question I have is regarding the 859, is it capable of NEMA input from the VHF or only output to the VHF? From reading up on the DSC feature, some other brands of GPS allow for an input from the VHF so you can "poll" your friends and they will be displayed on your GPS.

Thanks,
Mike

Welcome to the Humminbird Side imaging Forums Fishnmike.

No, the 859 units only have NMEA 0183 output.
