Navionics + sonar charts
« on: April 13, 2014, 07:37:35 PM »
I just installed a Navioncs+ card in my 597 HD ci DI unit.
I downloaded charts & sonar for my local area on the Navionics site.
The navigation charts show up on my unit but I don't get the sonar charts no matter how much I zoom in.
Is there a setting that I'm missing on my depth finder?
I've been thru the the entire menu several times and even tried re-downloading the data onto the card.
Please help. Thanks

After spending most of the day trying to get this resolved, I'm still out of luck.
According to Navionics tech support, I'm supposed to have a "fish n chip" option in my chart menu somewhere.
This option simply does not exist on my unit and I don't know what to try next.
Does anybody out there have a 597 that uses sonar maps?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I haven’t worked with the Sonar Charts but I would try the same mapping card in another Humminbird unit to see if they show up or not.  You may also want to try updating the software in your unit.

I don't have your model but on mine. Chart Tab then chart select, then arrow through the choices. With the sonar chart chip inserted, select fish n chip. Good luck

Thanks for the help guys.
Turns out that "Chart Select" tab is only visible when you are on the chart screen.
I was powering on the unit, pressing "menu" twice and going right to the chart tab so the option to select "Fish N Chip" was never there for me.

I hope this helps someone else down the road.

I'm having the same problem with my 998.

I'll have to look for the Fish & Chips option.

You'd think that Navionics would explain this somehow when you do the Upgrade. A little direction could solve a lot of headaches and possible calls to Navionics CS.

Thanks to this great forum my problem will hopefully be resolved.
