New Mapping card looking for advice
« on: March 20, 2014, 05:48:45 PM »
My 2010 navionics Hot maps Platinum card is going to be replaced so I am essentially starting over with my charting/mapping card and I am wondering what are everyone's thoughts between these two cards

Navionics Hotmaps Platnum NORTH
or
Lakemaster Wisconsin

Both cards have my main fishing lakes in high definition!

Navionics has lots more lakes and waters in surrounding states than the Lakemaster but I am not really looking to fish those waters so it is a mute point.
I have never seen a Lakemaster card in use so I am not sure if there are other advantages or disadvantages to either card.

I am thinking in the next year or two I will be needing to replace my trolling motor but I am unsure if I want to spend all the way up to the units linking into GPS or not.

Anyone have any up to date info on comparing the two products or any advantages I am unaware of

IF the lakes you are looking for are HD suveyed, Lakemaster has the most features for Humminbirds.  I fish a lot of lakes that fluctuate level a lot, and the water level offset is a very handy feature.

I you think you will ever go to an I-pilot link....Lakemaster has the follow the contour feature which is very nice.

Navionics has some options where you can upload new data, even data submitted by other users or yourself.....This would be good if you have a lake that is not well surveyed.
If you travel a lot, Navionics also has an option where you can upload on the lakes you want no matter what region.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

I bought a Lakemaster Great Lakes.  It has lts of detail but most of the lakes I fish in Indiana are not on the chip.  So I do not get to use it often.  Check the lake list and see if what you fish most is on it.

I think if both mapping cards have the lakes you want in HD format than the LakeMaster card would be the better choice due to the additional LakeMaster only features in your Humminbird unit (Depth Highlight, water Level Offset, Shallow water Highlight, i-Pilot Follow the Contour and AutoChart).

But of course LakeMaster and JOME (Humminbird) are both owned by the same company.
