Installing 998?
« on: January 30, 2011, 09:16:40 PM »
What do I need to get completely set up as far as cables and through hull transducer for a 998. I have the SI ducer
but want to read depth at speed. I asked Doug about the RAM mount so I have that covered.
Which transducer for through hull and what cabled do I need for the 998? Anything else I might not be thinking about.
Thanks

Matt, l tried thru the hull ducer and the image was not as good as the outside unit.I seemed to lose a lot of detail. My speed comes from the HB Units GPS

I take it you want to use the Shoot Thru Hull 2d transducer for better depth readings and still use the transom mount SI transdcuer at the same time.

You will need the XP 9 20 T Transducer and the AS SIDB Y Cable.

That should get you going!

it looks like the 998 came with an as sidb y cable. is this just to hook up gps or can i use this one for the through hull ducer?

Also would this mount be sufficient or do i need the biger one? RAM-111-U
Overall length: 5.6", 1.5" ball, 6.25"x2" plate, 2.5" base, holds up to 10 lbs

Thanks...too many questions from a newbie.

Yes, the Ram 111-U should do just fine.

I know the 997 came with the accessory AS YC cable, are you sure you are not mistaking this for the AS SIDB Y Cable.  The transdcuer connector will not fit on the AS YC. The GPS and other accessories do.

Here is a picture of the AS YC.  Is it the same?
