Just ordered my 998c SI.
« on: June 16, 2010, 01:07:08 PM »
Finally pulled the trigger on a 998c si and it should arrive any day! Also picked up the Fish n chip card.  I am so excited.  I am making a big jump in the electronics world from my old black and white combo.  Any out of the boxs tricks I should be aware of?  Also Ive debated on mounting locations for the transom transducer and I am wondering if the location of my old one would work.

Bottom Right.
Also think I am going to add a second transducer.  I am just blabbing now, it feels like chrismas.
Thanks guys for all the things ive read, and will continue to read.

Welcome to the forum.

You are most likely going to need a second transdcuer.  If you were able to mount it low enough down near the bottom of the V you may be able to get away with it and not cause any turbulence on the props.

Yeah thats what I figured. So if I ordered a 2nd ducer, and the y cable would that be all I needed provided the wire length was long enough? And in that situation would I put one where the current (old) ducer is, and then one on its opposite side?

Y cable length was enough to fit my 28' Bayliner, so you shouldn't have an issue there.
