Title: subbing in HB565 in unused 798 station
Post by: mt72916 on March 10, 2011, 10:15:18 PM
Guys
I have a 2011 798CI HDSI on my boat. I installed a 2nd station for it on my bow.
I used the larger XHS 9 HDSI 180 T on the transom and a 2d transducer in the bilge with a y cable.
I then used a XTM 9 HDSI 180 T on the trolling motor. I swap the head unit between stations at this time.

My question is I have on the shelf a 2 yr old  HB 565 2d sonar unit will it be ok to use the HB565 in the open mount for the 798?

I understand, if it is possible, it will only be using the 20 degree and 60 degree portion of the HDSI tranducer.

if it is not possible i am considering selling it.

thanks

Mel

Mel,
The new 798ci HD Si unit has an Ethernet connector on it that the older 565 unit does not.  To support this new connector on the new “HD” units, the parts in the unit mount that hold the cable connectors in place had to be changed as well and will not fit the 565 now.  You could use the 565 on the same cables but would have to swap out the connector collector parts to do so.
