Title: Fish biomass assessment from Humminbird/Garmin data
Post by: GM on October 01, 2021, 09:29:16 PM
Hello,

This may be a "weird" question but I was wondering if someone has tried to assess fish biomass with data acquired by fish finder transducer systems (eg. Humminbird, Garmin), or derive backscatter data from these systems to test/experiment on detected targets. Some time ago I worked with data from hull-mounted echosounders (eg. EK500) using Echoview (with echograms) and was wondering if raw data from HB/Garmin could be displayed/processed by such a software.

Any help is much appreciated,

Best,

GM

Echoview doesn't support raw data from HB or Garmin.
But they define an open binary file format.
So you simply have to write a tool that converts the data.  ;)
