Title: Question about transducer XM 9 20 MSI T and XM 14 20 MSI T

Good afternoon. Sorry for my English. I'm from Russia.

I have a Helix 10x g2n device with an XM 9 20 MSI T sensor, I damaged the sensor, and since we have a problem with humminbird devices, we all use lowrance, I could not find such a sensor. But then I found a sensor from solix g1 (XM 14 20 MSI T), but they have a different connector. I found the pinouts of the helix and the solix, cut off the connector and soldered it very well. Everything works si, di, 2d. I soldered the wires according to the cuts of the sensors, but XM 14 20 MSI T has a purple (N / A) wire, and a yellow one (sensor identification), there are no such wires in my sensor. But there was a problem, the device must be turned on before the sensor is immersed in water. If the device is turned on when the sensor is in water, an error "sensor not connected" will appear. I don't even know what to do now, and no one can help me.

Upon boot up - HELIX units send a signal to the temperature sensor in the transducer to determine if there is indeed a transducer attached  ...

This can be “bypassed” by pressing the Menu button when the Humminbird logo appears during boot up  ...

The unit should then give a popup Menu with 3 choices : Normal, Simulator, System Status  ...

Cursor to Normal and then press the right arrow button to enter Normal operation  ...

Did you connect the temperature wire when splicing  ... ??

thank you for responding so quickly to my problem.
I connected the temperature wire, it is brown, and on that sensor and on the other, I also punched it not to connect. I noticed that the temperature stopped showing in the device.
I choose "normal" mode, but the unit then works without sonar mode.
But when the sensor is not in the water, I turn on the device, lower the sensor into the water and screw it to the transom, then all modes work until I turn off and turn on the device.
A very unusual problem.

Indeed an unusual scenario  ... 

I’m not able to comprehend (yet) how the unit and transducer work correctly (or not) simply by whether the transducer is in the water (or not)  ... The only variable (between the transducer being in the water or out of the water) is a temperature difference detected by the temperature sensor in the transducer housing  ...

A question for you  ...

The XM 14 20 MSI T has dedicated ground circuits for each separate piezo  ...
The XM 9 20 MSI T has a common drain/ground circuit for all piezoes (pin#6)  ...

Did you collect all of these ground wires together (from the XM 14 20 MSI T) and splice them into pin#6 (drain/ground) of the “house shaped” HELIX transducer cable  ...??
