Dive sites mapping
« on: March 22, 2012, 12:55:22 AM »
Hi i am new to the forum and i first introduce my self to the community, i am a professional diver and i started to think about make underwater maps of the dive sites of my area.
I am new to the SI Technology and i was pointed out in a different forum to this one, very good suggestion, after reading here i am now more clear on the way to go.
I do have some grey areas and i would like some help on it.
The main porpouse is to avoid lost of time and money, buying hardware not enough or too advanced for my scope. Basically I need to make 3D maps of dive sites around 45 meters of depth, import the date on a PC ( windows 7 ) and print it out, but if for examples the difference in price is not that much, going down to 60 or more meters would be great for some recovery missions.
I can home made hardware if is necessary as i am confident enogh with electronics.
Any help on my project will be very well appreciated and wellcome.

Have a good day

Several come to mind..

1) SonarTrx
2) DrDepth
3) 3DF

All of these can be googled for their websites.

Several have ads here on the forum

Stogazull, Welcome! There a lot Freeware on the net that can be used for SI and Bottom Mapping.

Some side scan and forward scan offer freeware on the web also.

Hi Stogazull

Welcome to this Forum ;)
If you want practical help in this project, make some information about your location.
