Problems with HELIX 9 and 10 CHIRP MEGA SI GPS
« on: September 05, 2018, 04:25:29 PM »
1. Is this a correct statement : "Saved Tracks Default settings will ONLY be applied to NEW TRACKS ONLY, WHEN IMPORTING" So that older tracks have to be individual edited??
2. Anyone having problems with the unit and the supplied gimbal not fitting properly. I cant adjust them to where they work "smoothly" like my 898 did. That in between setting where you can tile it just right. Right now the head is either frozen in place or falls off the gimbal.
3. My non-networked 10 will only show "bullseye" WP icons, where the same uploaded WP on my 9 are fine. Tried alot of the usual fixes.
4. What's the max # of WP you can use at one time?

1. This is correct  ... "Saved Tracks Default" selections only applies to future saved tracks  ...

2. I frequent several forums and this is the 1st note of the gimbal not holding the unit correctly  ....are the round serrated disks present on both the gimbal ends and in the head unit case insets  ...??

3. Please clarify  ... I'm not fully understanding the scenario  ...

4. Waypoints capacity in internal memory is 2,500 waypoints  ...

As for #2, the gimbal and the unit look the way they should, both have the "rough edging". It's almost like the "rough edging" is too pronounced.
As for #3, ALL the uploaded WP on the 10 have a white circle with a black dot in the middle.
Again this does not happen on the 9 unit, whem I use the same cd card and upload the info  So it is even doing it when I'm networking or not. When I make a new WP then it does what it is suppose to do, I get the blue dot.

The serrated disks are designed to hold the unit stationary after adjusting to angle desired and then tightening the knobs  ... I'm not sure how one would find a certain tightening spot of the knobs to securely hold the unit and still allow it to be adjusted for tilt  ... I guess it may be possible that the older units may not have had such deep serrations in the disks  ... My 1197 seems to have about the same depth in the disk serrations as my ONIX  ...
-----

Your bullseye waypoints designations I'm not familiar with  ... Have you changed the "Saved Waypoints Defaults" selection to a bullseye  ...??
