Title: Trouble with HB PC
Post by: Ankrum on April 01, 2010, 11:33:33 AM
The first time I used it, I was able to see the unit and transfer waypoints over from my ice fishing GPS.  Now when I try, it goes into PC Connect mode and my finder shows up as a tab, but when I click on it it just show's all of the pie charts full and below them it says "reading" under each one.  How can I get my waypoints, routes, etc. to be recognized?

Try selecting the downwards pointing arrow that shows under the unit icon on the tab that shows up when your unit is connected.  This is the “Download from Unit to PC” arrow.

Does your unit actually go into the PC Connect mode?

Yea Greg I tried doing that, it just came up with the download dialog box but just sat there for awhile and the progress bar never moved.  I have looked at my unit, and the PC Connect mode is active.  Something's just weird because it was working fine the night before.  I'll try digging into it a little more tonight to see if I can get any results.

Ok Guys,
I'm home now and it still woudn't connect to my unit properly.  I fired it up in bootstrap mode while connected to HB PC, went down to 'reset' and hit view and TA DA, everything started working fine again and it's now reading my unit from HB PC.  If anyone ever has this issue, that is the way to get it working properly again.

UPDATE:  Nevermind, I spoke too soon, it's still back at it again showing nothing for number stored, and says reading...waypoints.  I thought I had it LOL

Ankrum,
did export ALL NAV DATA to your SD card before you took it off / connected the unit to your PC?

Harry,

I tried all that and still nothing.  Good news though, I decided to try it on my laptop and it worked great!  I just bought a new desktop last month, which is ultra high speed but runs on windows 7 platform.  I've narrowed it down to 2 possible problems, 1) either the unit/program does not yet cooperate well with the new windows 7 or, 2) the security settings on the new PC are so advanced/complicated that it keeps blocking out unrecognized programs from gaining access to the PC.  I think that the second reason is the likely problem.  My serial/usb cable is fairly advanced and has to have a driver, and my PC seems to have trouble recognizing the driver and it keeps deleting it.  Looks like I'll just stick to the laptop while using PC Connect and to unlock the unit if I desperately need it, otherwise I'll just use the SD card with my PC because that works great and I don't have to worry about any problems with that.
